Template Library

DS Manager comes with 3 demo templates that you can either use as is, edit, or delete all together.

A Template is a text document with mark-ups for what information is to be included from Active Directory.

A Template is a set of 3 documents. Outlook supports sending mail in RTF, TEXT and HTML, so a template contains 3 signature file formats to reflect this.

Editor

DS Manager includes a WYSIWYG Html Editor. It may not be as good as larger commercial products as Dreamweaver and such.

But the strength in the DS Managers Html Editor is that it has a more reduced instruction set that works closer with what Outlook can handle.

Understand that Outlook does NOT support the complete HTML standard. There has been much talk in media about the Outlook html interpreter as of late. Especially after MS released Outlook 2007, which has switched the rendering engine to Word, instead of IE.

If you like you can create signatures outside the DS Manager Editor. All templates are placed in the local repository in your installation directory. Nothing prevents you from editing these files directly should you wish to use another template editor.

Editing Template

Choose a template to edit.

As you can see you have 3 panels for the various formats.

To insert fields from Active Directory, you can choose items from the drop-down list in the top of menu.

Select an item, place the cursor where you would like it to appear and click the "Insert Selected Mark-up" button to the right.

Do all 3 formats as you see fit and save the template.
